Biography of Makane FAYE

Makane FAYE is a Senegalese National, who retired from the United Nations where he spent 26 years leading the ICT for Development and Knowledge Management program of the UN Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa and the Federation of UN Staff Associations and Unions (FUNSA). Prior to joining the UN he spent 6 years as Chief of the Documentation and Information Centre of the African Regional Organization for Standardization in Nairobi, Kenya.

He spearheaded the launch of the African Internet Governance Forum, for which he is currently the Secretary. He is also the Chairperson of the WAIGF Planning Committee and Executive Committee Member of the Internet Governance Support Association (IGFSA).

In his day to day activity, he presides over the Association of former United Nations Staff residing in Senegal and is on his spare time a consultant on ICT for Development and Internet Governance.

Mr. Faye holds a PhD in Information Technology, a Masters in Information Management and a Bachelor in Documentation Sciences.
