Côte d'Ivoire (http://www.igici.ci/) won the bid to host the 6th Regional Forum.

Working under the Theme:
"Internet Governance For Peace: A Shared Responsibility of Multi-stakeholder partnerships"
The choice of the theme came about as a result of the increased violence and security challenges being witnessed within the region. The question that the forum would be addressing is :
"Can the Region leverage on ICTs to provide security for its physical and net citizens?"

Benin held its first Internet Governance Forum on September the 27th, 2012 at the Palais des Congrès in Cotonou.

The Organizers, Nigerian Internet Registration Association (NIRA), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Communication Technology are pleased to announce the Nigerian Internet Governance Forum 2012 scheduled to hold at the NICON Luxury International Hotel, Abuja on the 25th of September, 2012.

The event is a one-day Preparatory National Stakeholders' Forum which calls for contributions from various stakeholders such as government, regulators, professional bodies, civil societies, academia, youths & women, operators, security & law enforcement agencies, law makers, industry, international organizations, multilateral development partners, and the general public towards facilitating domestic inputs into the forthcoming Global Internet Governance Forum 2012 taking place at Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, from 6 to 9 November 2012.

The theme of the NIGF 2012 is in alignment with the theme of the Global IGF 2012:‘Internet Governance for Sustainable Human, Economic and Social Development.' while the event goal is to provide ‘Harmonization of National Multi-Stakeholders Positions based on the Global IGF 2012 Six Point Agenda':

Central Africa Internet Governance Forum, Douala - Cameroun, 29 - 31 May 2012
